Dear ~~first_name~~:
As we process the results of the recent election, I am reaching out with encouragement to take the time you need to rest, reflect, and recharge. I hope you will also remember that we are part of an organization that has endured for more than 100 years – through wars, profound change, and times of uncertainty – and adapted our goals, strategies, and tactics to changing times. Some things, however, have not changed. Our mission of empowering voters and defending democracy has been at the center of all we have done, and the high value we place on the power of women to create a more perfect democracy has inspired generations.
As we take a deep breath after a busy election season, I hope you share the pride I feel about our League's contribution to our local community. Thanks to our efforts:
- 28,000 South Central Texas households and voters had access to unbiased, nonpartisan information about the candidates on their ballots;
- Because so many of our League members volunteered to serve as election judges and clerks, polling places had the volunteers needed to ensure that lines were managed effectively and voting locations remained safe, nonpartisan spaces for all.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who helped distribute Voters Guides to these 28,000 households, and to all who helped during early voting and on election day. Thank you!
While this is not the time to share plans for the coming year, I hope you will join me in looking forward to our work together, standing on the strong shoulders of the women who came before us.
In League,
Janis Richardson, President |
