Six years ago, the League of Women Voters of Lavaca County was organized around my kitchen table by our five founding members. Today, we are the League of Women Voters of South Central Texas, serving five counties! Every new member, friend, connection, success and challenge has helped us grow!

 

I am looking forward to our League's Annual Meeting this Sunday, May 19 (2:00 pm), back here at my home in Hallettsville where it all started! We'll spread out beyond my kitchen table, but will be doing what we do every year at this time:

To help get some juices flowing before we gather, I'm sharing a  list of possibilities and opportunities for League members in the coming year. Thank you, Helen Niesner, for the idea!

 

We understand that your involvement needs to work with your life, and appreciate all ways you contribute - from the first step of joining, which provides invaluable moral and financial support, to taking a more active role. Opportunities for fun and interesting ways to volunteer now abound - with more on the horizon! I hope you'll take a look, see what's calling to you, add another one or two to the list, and join us here in Hallettsville this Sunday to connect with others who are doing the same!

 

Weather permitting, we'll be both in and outside, so casual dress is appropriate. Also, save up for some delicious refreshments, as we have asked Miriam Hernandez, the wonderful caterer for our 2024 Women Making History event, to do an encore of the some of the most popular goodies from that day. And, don't hesitate to invite a friend!
