Our League, along with the handful of other Leagues serving rural communities in Texas, is part of the nenwly formed Texas League Rural Caucus, which meets every other month to enable rural Leagues to connect on issues of common interest and share what we are learning about buildling strong, resilient, effective Leagues in Texas' rural communities.

League Book Group Meeting

Our League Book Group meets every other month (odd-numbered months) on the third Wednesday via Zoom. This month, we're discussing The Big Sort: Why the Clustering of Like-Minded America is Tearing Us Apart  by Bill Bishop. We are honored to have Bill Bishop - a South Central Texas neighbor - as our special guest for this discussion.
 
Book Group meetings are open to members and friends, with the promise of a judgement free zone for those who haven't read the book but who are interested in the discussion or our community of friends.

Adopt-a-Highway Clean-Up Day
Monday, April 15, 8 -10 am
Highway 90 Just West of Schulenburg
 
Join us for our next Adopt-a-Highway workday on the 2-mile stretch of State Highway 90 between Schulenburg and Flatonia that we have adopted. We have fun and make a big difference in this little part of South Central Texas!
 
Here's what to do:
  • Meet in the parking lot of the Fayette County Precinct 4 Road and Bridge facility at 1801 W Hwy 90 near the Schulenburg city limits.
  • Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. We will provide instructions, bags, reflective vests, sunscreen, bugspray, and water.
  • Plan on staying for a fun post-clean-up debrief at Tillie's Coffee Shop in Schulenburg!

Our League will be sending a team of delegates to our state League's biennial convention in Dallas this April. Attending a League convention is an energizing experience that provides opportunities to meet League members from all parts of Texas, participate in well-planned workshops on all aspects of the League's work, and vote on state League leadership, budget, and program priorities for the coming two years. This year, our League will be a headliner - presenting our original reader's theater production, Press On, My Sisters: The ERA Then & Now, to all those present.

Save the date for our League's Annual meeting on Sunday, May 19.  At this meeting - our most important business meeting of the year - we wil elect board members and officers for the coming year, adopt a budget, set program priorities, and celebrate recent progress.
