December League Social

Join us this month to celebrate December for a gathering  at Majek's Vineyard & Winery, 12508 FM 957,  Schulenburg, TX 78956.

This is a time for networking, friendship, fun conversation, some delicious Majek wine, and maybe a tiny bit of League business here and there.  All League members and friends are welcome!

Current Volunteer Opportunities:
  • Primary Election Voters Guides - We are looking for volunteers to help contact candidates running for county-level positions in the March 2024 Primary Election. Candidates will receive an email invitation from Cindy Meredith, our League's VOTE411 coordinator, inviting them to submit information to be included in the Voters Guide or VOTE411, its online version. We need volunteers to personally follow up with those candidates that do not respond - making sure they saw the invitation, know what to do, and understand the benefits of participating. We'll do a short "how to" training to help volunteers with this information. This important, short-term volunteer job will help our League include information in Voters Guides on all candidates that South Central Texas voters will see on their ballot. Sign up for the Contact Candidates Team (under Voting & Elections) here.
  • League Observer Corps - We are looking for volunteers to serve as Observers for boards and commissions in our South Central Texas area. Observers simply observe and jot some notes on a form that we provide. This is easier, more interesting, and more fun than it sounds - and will help the League be more visible, connected, and tuned in to the work of elected bodies in our community.  If you are willing to observe meetings of the School Board, City Council, Hospital District Board, Water District Board, or County Commission in your area, sign up here or contact Catherine Burns for more information.
  • Women Making History 2024 - Our Women Making History event is coming up on Sunday, March 10, and we will need volunteers to help in many ways - outreach, set-up, "day of" registration just to name a few. If you are interested in volunteering for this important event, contact event chairperson Helen Niesner
  • Gonzales County Contact - We are looking for someone with contacts in Gonzales County to help organize a casual "get to know the League" gathering there. Our League includes Gonzales County but we have no Gonzales County members so far, and we want to fix that in 2024! If you have friends in Gonzales County and are willing to help, contact League President Janis Richardson or Membership Co-Chair Jaci Elliott.
  • Girl Scouts Contact - We are lookiing for Girl Scout Leaders or former Girl Scouts who have love scouting to help us explore Voter Girl, a time-tested program Leagues do with Girl Scout troops. If this is you, contact League President Janis Richardson via email, phone, or text (361-772-3228).
